Why Us

What Sets Our Work Apart

We started as a hardwood flooring business, and we still install and refinish floors today, so one licensed contractor can build the house and finish its floors. We hold Louisiana residential contractor license 884790, and we are insured.

In the Area

Donaldsonville's Historic District and Your Home

Inside the Donaldsonville Historic District, the city requires a Historic District Application before any building, tear-down, or renovation, including a new roof, a new paint color, or a new fence. Repainting in the same color and repairing damage back to how it was are exempt. Otherwise, the Historic District Commission has to approve a certificate of appropriateness, the commission's formal sign-off, before the city issues a work permit. No work can start before that approval.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer custom home building, roofing, home additions, bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, hardwood floor refinishing, flooring installation, window replacement, house painting, and demolition and land grading.

The district's 2001 design rules allow architectural shingles, the thicker layered kind, and ribbed metal panels in corrugated, V-crimp, and R-panel styles. The commission's brochure adds standing-seam metal, the style with raised seams running down the roof. Three-tab shingles, the thinner flat kind, are not allowed. Pick from that list before you price a roof replacement on a home in the district.

The district's 2001 design rules keep new additions off the front of a historic building, which usually puts an addition off the back or side of the house. The roof of the addition must match the form and pitch of the original. Its foundation must bring the new floor to exactly the original floor height.

Every demolition request in the district goes to the Historic District Commission and waits for its next monthly meeting, except in an emergency. No demolition permit is issued until the commission approves the plans for what will replace the building, and demolishing a historic structure without approval carries a $5,000 fine. Settle the replacement plans before you ask to tear anything down.

The Weather Service station in Donaldsonville recorded 15.59 inches of rain over four days, including 6.73 inches on August 12, 2016, and 6.80 inches on August 13. Rain that heavy finds any low spot, so check that the ground around a slab home slopes away from it before the next big storm.
