Hardwood Floor RefinishingWhy Us
We started as a hardwood flooring business, and we still install and refinish floors today, so one licensed contractor can build the house and finish its floors. We hold Louisiana residential contractor license 884790, and we are insured.

In the Area
In St. George, every new home and addition must meet a minimum elevation, even on a lot outside the flood zone. The floor must sit 1 foot above the highest of several marks, including the base flood elevation, the record flood level, the street along the lot, and the nearest sewer manhole. A new home needs an elevation certificate (a surveyor's floor-height form) before and after the work, so budget for two surveys.

Questions
We offer custom home building, roofing, home additions, bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, hardwood floor refinishing, flooring installation, window replacement, house painting, and demolition and land grading.
In a FEMA or community flood zone, fill brought onto a lot here must be offset by digging out the same volume. The exception is the raised dirt pad a slab home sits on, when the buildings on the lot total no more than 3,500 sq ft and the fill averages no more than 24 inches. Keep the buildings at or under that size and the fill at or under that depth to skip the offset.
The city requires a site clearing permit before any earthwork, tree removal, or fill on a property. Disturbing more than 100 sq ft of earth also brings an environmental review with a posted notice and an erosion control map. Clearing more than an acre adds the cost of a stormwater plan.
The city's permit guide makes the homeowner or contractor responsible for sending plans to the subdivision's architectural control committee, if one exists, for review and approval. That review sits outside the city's own permit. Send the plans to the committee first.
If the new slab of an addition will match the existing slab of the house, the city's addition checklist says a proposed elevation certificate may not be required. A slab set at a different height needs one. As long as the addition still meets the city's minimum elevation, matching the existing floor height can save a survey on an addition.
