Hardwood Floor RefinishingWhy Us
We started as a hardwood flooring business, and we still install and refinish floors today, so one licensed contractor can build the house and finish its floors. We hold Louisiana residential contractor license 884790, and we are insured.

In the Area
Raising a St. Amant lot with trucked-in dirt has a catch. Under Ascension Parish's zero net fill rule, any fill placed below the base flood elevation must be matched by the same amount of soil dug out, and the new dirt must come from the same property or the same drainage basin. A Louisiana-licensed engineer must certify that the fill and the dig-out balance. On a low lot, weigh a raised foundation against a fill pad.

Questions
We offer custom home building, roofing, home additions, bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, hardwood floor refinishing, flooring installation, window replacement, house painting, and demolition and land grading.
The Amite River gauge at Port Vincent, just upriver, set its record flood at an estimated 17.45 ft on August 15, 2016, more than twice the 8 ft level where the river starts to flood. The old record was 14.65 ft, from April 1983. At that level, the Weather Service says water covers the whole area from Bayou Manchac south to Port Vincent. Ask how high water came on any lot before you buy it.
The St. Amant fire chief estimated that nearly 30% of structures in the area were damaged when Hurricane Ida came through in August 2021, and shingles were blown off numerous houses. Keep the paperwork from any Ida roof repair, since it shows what was replaced and when.
Ascension Parish already requires new homes in a mapped flood zone to sit 2 feet above the base flood elevation, the flood height the map sets. The parish flood map, first drawn in 1981, has changed twice, in 1993 and 2007, and its floodplain office notes that extra height helps a home stay at or above a new base flood elevation if the map changes again. A little more height can also lower flood insurance premiums.
The Amite River at French Settlement set its record crest of 9.21 ft on August 16, 2016, more than a foot over the level the Weather Service calls major flooding. Maurepas also takes storm surge from Lake Maurepas, which pushed the Highway 22 gauge there to 7.2 ft during Hurricane Ida in 2021, second only to Isaac in 2012. When you build or raise a home near Maurepas, plan the floor height around the surge and the river.
